Located in the small village area of Pirgos, on Crete’s north west coast, just west of Chania town, Villa Ostria is close to the resort areas of Gerani, Maleme and Platanias which each provide an array of amenities, with Platanias offering a wide choice of restaurants, cafes, shops and tennis club. Further along the coast lies the fishing village of Kolymbari which you can explore and enjoy fresh fish and seafood straight off of the fishing boats.

Chania is home to many beautiful villages and is famous for its orange plantations. Exploring the area is certainly worthwhile with areas of outstanding beauty such as the botanical park with its organic restaurant or Therisso gorge within a short drive. Limnoupolis water park is nearby for small or big kids and cultural Chania town will delight every member of your party. The  Venetian harbour is lined with restaurants, cafes and gelateries while the winding lanes lead past independent shops, leather lane the old market.

Elafonissi on the south west coast is famous for its pink sands and crystalline waters and resembles the Caribbean. Balos lagoon is located on the north coast and is reached via boat. A tropical paradise, the lagoon has white sand and turquoise waters. Falassarna is located on the far north west and consists of 4 pieces of beautiful beach. It is a shell seekers paradise and another beach not to be missed. 

However, if you want to stay local, the strip of beach along the nearby coastline is very nice with organised areas and beach clubs. Head further west towards Maleme for a pebble beach or further east towards Platanias and Agia Marina for sandy beaches. Just before Chania town is the beach area of Chrissi Akti “ Golden beach”. A beautiful sandy beach, it’s a great choice for families with shallower waters.
